Privacy policy

Effective October 22, 2026 · applies to the Bookage browser extension

The short version

Your bookmarks never leave your browser. Bookage has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Nothing you do in it is sent to us or to anyone else, except one thing you can choose to turn on: carrying your choices to your other computers through your own browser account's sync, encrypted with a code only you have.

What it reads and stores

Optional: link and safety checks

Only if you turn them on (you'll be asked for access to "all websites"):

You can leave these off; everything else works without them.

Optional: carry your choices to your other computers

Off until you turn it on (More → Carry my choices), separately on each computer. When on, Bookage keeps a summary of your decisions in your browser's own sync storage, so your other computers with Bookage get them too: which bookmarks are done, dismissed alerts, declined moves, which folders get scanned, and your sorting rules.

Optional: on-device AI suggestions

In browsers that include a built-in AI model (currently Chrome, on capable computers), the Ask on-device AI button lets that model suggest folders. It runs entirely on your computer: bookmark titles and addresses are given to the browser's local model and are not sent anywhere. The browser downloads its model once, the first time any extension or site uses it.

What we never do

Deleting your data

Uninstalling the extension deletes everything it stored on that computer (to remove a shared copy of your choices from your browser account, turn Carry my choices off first and choose to remove it). Your browser's actual bookmarks stay exactly as they are at that moment.

Changes and contact

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Questions: open an issue.
